Time Trials

I think it's really neat that this new version of time trials no longer has waypoints that you are forced to pass through such as in ME1. Does anyone know what the status is on curling to increase your speed? In ME1, it was quite ridiculous to constantly be "bunny hopping" to finish a speed run or time trial quicker. It was not that hard to do, but maybe added a little more skill into getting a decent time. In addition, it seems that quick turns are no longer in the game where you held left or right and pressed the jump button. This put you at top speed immediately if performed correctly and was a strange aspect of the game. I wonder how this will affect making tight turns or landing and immediately picking up the pace again if it is not in Catalyst. Also, there were many bugs in the last game that included double jumping using wall kicks, and performing "wall turns" to increase your vertical height or to endlessly scale between two walls. These maneuverability bugs were neat in some aspects, but were not intended and made drastic discrepancies between people's time trial and speed run times. I just hope that bugs in the game will be fixed through updates unlike in ME1, and I'm glad there's a way to report cheaters! These are just some questions and thoughts I had about Catalyst. I'm very excited for its release! Feel free to comment below. :)

  • Currently it is faster to coil jump than to run..hopefully it will be removed before the release. You can now right click and you are pretty much at 100% running speed and you can no longer kick in a wall run without an enemy near so the kickglitch is gone which is cool.
  • Aight. Good to know. I still think the bunny hopping is strange. At least it adds something, so it's harder to always be at top speed. I don't know how else they would implement a mechanic to add skill to running in a straight line...
  • Some of the skills the op mentions you have to unlock through story and you have to purchase in the progress menu. I have quick turn from a wall run. Double wall jump is further I to the game.
