Hello,
I am completely unable to play Mirror's Edge Catalyst, even though everything worked just fine in the Closed Beta.
The game lags atrociously, and I did not get past the few opening lines. It boots up relatively fast at first: I can see the opening credits (EA, Frostbite) without any stuttering, and then the little loading icon in the top right going at its normal pace. But after a few seconds, it freezes and starts moving sporadically (and that's usually when I roll my eyes because I know that I have not fixed my problem yet.) I managed to open the menu only once, and everything just ran extremely slow. Whenever I clicked on something it would take forever to respond.
- I checked that my drivers are up to date (they are);
- I checked that DirectX was up to date (it was);
- I tried to Repair Game via Origin;
- I tried deleting the PROF_SAVE and PROF_SAVE_profile files;
- I tried altering the PROF_SAVE_profile file;
- I tried getting rid of everything Closed Beta related in case it interfered somehow;
- I tried putting every Graphics options on Medium;
- I tried turning off Origin in game via Origin Settings;
- I tried running it in Windowed mode;
- I tried restarting my computer;
- I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
So far nothing has worked.
Here are some of my basic specs:
- Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.49 GHz
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 970M
- 16.0 GB RAM
- Windows 10 Home
- 64-bit OS, x64-based processor
Again, everything worked just fine in the Closed Beta... So I really don't understand what happened.
Any suggestions??
Thanks!

I kept an eye on the Task Manager and the activity seemed very normal. It peaked at 100% CPU usage for about a few seconds early when I launched, but afterwards it fell to about 20% and stayed there. My memory usage was fine throughout. And there are no other application that is consuming anywhere near as much as MEC. The only thing that seems to be taking up a fair part of memory is Bitdefender (about 300MB).
And I have absolutely no idea if I have a switching setup. Perhaps?
I've bought my laptop off ASUS and never tampered with it, so I don't know if it means anything?
