Whelp, I'll start with this: I've waited for this game 8 years, just like many other people. I had my fears, many of them. Some were dismissed during the game, yet some remained still.
Story: I liked the story. That was my biggest fear. I loved original Mirror's Edge story, because it was simple, it was about Faith and her sister. In Catalyst we've received something more, but I'm fine with it. Still, there was a problem. Storyline was a little too short in my opinion. I wish we could've get more missions. I heard some people say the ending was rushed. I didn't notice. I truly loved the ending. It reminded me so much of the ending from original ME. Shard? Check. Sisters? Check. One sister saving another? Check. I was smiling through the whole scene.
Characters: I wasn't a fan of new Faith at first. Again, I loved the original one, she was a bit cold, distant. Here? Faith was a little bit more alive. She kinda annoyed me a bit at the beginning, but then she grew on me.
Plastic: Well, she was fantastic! Funny, a little crazy in the good way. Loved her.
Noah: Game was trying so hard to make us like him and care for him, but I literally felt nothing. I didn't even care when he actually died.
Icarus: Just... go away. GO AWAY. Honestly. The worst character I've seen in a game in a long time. Dice, if you ever make a sequel or a DLC. Please, don't bring him back. Just don't.
The rest? Rebecca, Dogan? I liked them all equally.
The Birdman... I don't know. He was supposed to be important, but he was for like 5 minutes. Just... wow.
I'm very sad we didn't have Celeste. She should've been in retarded Icarus' place. Why replace her, Dice? Why?
Same with Mercury. I love the big guy from original ME and I was truly sad when he was killed in the game. Yet I didn't care about Noah at all.
I get it, it was a reboot, but you didn't have to replace pretty much everyone except Faith.
Side mission and activities: I'll say this. Not enough true side mission with normal narrative and too much delivery missions that were pretty much useless. Same with diversions. Everything was too repetitive. This is a very big con.
Open world: I'm very glad we received it. I've had so much fun exploring the city, but then again, if you make a game with an open world, just make sure we have something fun to do there. Not repetitive activities that become boring after an hour or two. One thing I didn't like: The Glass looked too futuristic compared to the prevoius ME. I didn't like it. I prefer original design.
Combat: Combat was amazing. I hated it in the original ME, yet I've had fun here everytime I needed to fight. Tho I'm very confused with those third person finishers. They were supposed to happen after defeating the last enemy in the area. It didn't work in my game. Through the whole game, I've had maybe three finishers.
Soundtrack: Nothing to say except I loved it. Thank you, Solar Fields for an amazing work for Mirror's Edge again.
Graphics: I was playing on ps4 and graphics were absolute garbage. Blurry textures, draw distance almost non existent. Textures of the buildings taken literally from ps2 generation. I mean, what happened, Dice? You've created SW Battlefront and it looked gorgeous on both consoles with stable 60 fps. Something clearly went very wrong with the Catalyst. It wasn't current gen graphic. It was the last gen graphic.
Final verdict? In the end, I'm glad that I bought the Catalyst, yet I think this game could've been a lot better. If we ever get a sequel, I hope we won't have problems from current ME.
