How to get rid of the footsteps?

Seriously, they're awful. Is there any way to get rid of them? They stick out like a sore thumb and ruin the beautiful environments. Even if they're only meant as suggestions, they're a real eyesore and feeling like I'm having my hand held takes away the sense of exploration and interaction that you get by experiencing the environments. There were plenty of folks asking for them to be toggleable in the Closed Beta feedback thread as well (https://forums.mirrorsedge.com/discussion/1531/the-points-which-need-improvment-or-change).

This (and the icon that you can't get rid of that marks your destination during missions) are really bad things to force into the player's experience. It would be great if they could be toggled off, just like runner vision. Any chance of these becoming toggles?

  • I remember someone from production in a YouTube video saying that they wanted ME:C to be a game where anyone and everyone could explore the city no matter their skill level.
    Or something along those lines.
I agree with you completely on the footstep guiding. That should be optional. Even if they incorporate it into an Extreme challenge difficulty, where it's a one-time setting from the beginning with that saved file.
Waypoints, I've always enjoyed them in any game, but then again I'm one for movie type gameplay where huds can be edited to disappear. I agree with you whole heartedly for sure.
  • I agree, definitely feels like hand-holding for seasoned ME players. You'd think that with other parkour games like Titanfall, Dying Light, and the newer COD games that people wouldn't need that many pointers on how/where to run. The option to turn off the waypoints would also make screenshots so much easier. My hud would be entirely gone without them. Doubt you can turn any of that stuff off though.
  • I'm sure they could add in an option for turning all HUD off (call it screenshot mode). Not sure if it would be good on console versions or not.

But removing the footprints would be fairly simple texture identification as they only use 1 or 2 different textures for it :)
