Please roll back the update

I would like to ask one of three things from DICE,

1. Roll back the latest patch.
2. Release an hotfix resolving the issues you just brought into the game
3. Talk to us

The newest patch has made it impossible for me and other players to run the game at all. Not mentioning the people that are reporting performance and graphical issues under the new patch, people with older GPU's (I'm running an AMD Radeon HD 6950) can't run the game at all. Upon launching the game it gives an error saying I need the latest driver for my card, which I can't install because my card is not supported by AMD anymore.

Even though my card is under the minimum requirements for the game it still ran incredibly well until now. I see no reason why the game should require me to have the absolute latest drivers to be able to play.

The best solution that I see would be to roll back the patch (or gives up the ability to return to the previous patch ourselves), or try to release a hotfix fixing these issues as soon as possible, which is what I believe it most likely happening.

Until then however, I would ask for someone representative to respond to this issue in someway. I have looked through the forums, yet I haven't found a single reply or comment from someone representing DICE.

This game is amazing, it would be a shame if people can't play it because of no fault of their own or their system.

Comments

  • Yes I knew of those threads, but I deliberately created an extra one, both because this is slightly different, in the way that I'm trying to get a response out of DICE, and also because I want them to take notice that this is affecting a fair number of people.

    Good words!^^
One user is nothing, but only much many Pepole press DICE to solve the problem!

  • Shouldn't you be complaining to AMD, rather than Dice? If the game needs something that was included in this driver revision, then it needs it. The patch has brought improvements for a lot of people, why would they go back on that for a minority of players who ignored the system requirements?

Why would you buy a game you're under minimum spec for, anyway? O_o
  • I'm not at minimum req at all man(Fx 8350, R9 290), and i have big problem with this **** update (the game worked very well before)! Dice&EA are the problem, you must have the possibility to play the game without patch it!
  • I bought the game because it was my most anticipated game of all time. I love mirror's edge. If I couldn't run the game when I first purchased it I would have refunded it. Now however I don't believe I can. It just seems unfair that they would completely lock out older cards.

Personally I don't believe the driver requirements mean only these drivers work for whatever reason they have patched into the game. I would be more inclined to think this is merely a way to get users to update their drivers, which might fix current problems they might have right now. It's not under a week that you implement new "features" into the game that require new drivers to run. Whatever they changed already existed, and already ran fine for most people. Some people however, had problems with lagging cutscenes, etc, which might very well be fixed by these new drivers.

Whatever the case may be, why should we be required to have this new patch ? This is not an online only game, I can play it offline. Why can't I just run with the old one which works perfectly fine for me ? Just keep me from entering my times into the time trials and social features, that's fine and understandable, you don't want people to compete in different versions of the game, but gives the option to return to an older version of the game, so that people like me can still play it. Such a thing does not require new code, does not require new infrastructure, they just need to remove the restriction from origin that forces you to update the game. (and obviously let us download the specific version we can play).
  • Dice didn't 'lock out' older cards, your card manufacturer did. You're barking at the wrong people.
  • Is it only AMD that's not letting people install latest drivers? As far as i know NVIDIA let's people install latest drivers on any of their cards. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Same for me, having a HD6970 and now i can't play the game after the the update as it requires the latest AMD 16.6.1 driver.
16.2.1 is one of the last supported one. :-(

    Buying a new card? unbelievable......

I believe AMD's forums are here.
  • I'm having the same issue! And I've only had the game for a WEEK. I'll keep looking around for any solutions...I guess. :/
