"Hey, you used to run diversion all the time back in the days, right? Well, nothing's changed. Just keep Kruger-Sec busy while I plant a bug inside of..."
Yes, I can repeat that from memory. Things like that happen when you try for 45 minutes to beat a diversion mission and it is so glitchy and so not-well-thought-through that you keep failing and failing and failing and failing. In fact I have yet to beat it, but am currently struggling to start the game again at all.
When Kruger-sec spots you, sometimes it successfully triggers the checkpoint, sometimes not. No it's not sufficent that they shout something like "hey, there she is" when you've not connected with what seems to be a hairpin of a trigger on the ground. Doesn't even matter how close you get to one of them guards, hit that trigger or be prepared to notice the failure when you're already running away from them, which usally means a restart.
Oh and yes you can make that jump to the vertical valve. Seems far, but you can make it. 90% of the time very narrowly so you can watch the seconds tick away while you struggle to get a hold, 0,5% of the time by landing spot on and and 9,5% of the time by actually missing. Climb up, but this time the guards have noticed you already without the line of sight. Ignore them and HIT THAT TRIGGER otherwise they wont have actually noticed you. On and yes, right beside that climb is a sledge, so when you get up and one of them hits you you will slide down. Restart the mission then. Often.
And. So. On.
Please, mission designers, play your own missions!

Same goes when you want to "run-push-run" the enemies to bypass them easily: instead of push-running she throws punches and enters to the combat mode even thought you are running and wanting to pass them. And when I want to dash/shift away from the enemies, well, it locks to the nearest target - even thought the target is behind Faith - and instead of dashing/shifting your camera will auto-focus to the nearest Kuruger-sec and you lose your original direction.
Best tactics to bypass an enemy or a group of enemies is not "run-push-run" but do a "slide-roll" followed a "dash/shift".
If you know the imperfections and limits between the combat and free run modes you can complete the Diversion missions pretty easily. All you need to learn is the waypoints and the route and the shortcuts. This takes some trial and error while you get familiar to the routes and finally get your "perfect run".
Is it fun?... I wouldn't say so. It's pretty frustrating when Faith does something else than your intention was.
I can confirm that, at least with the first group you encounter, the 180° turn sometimes doesn't work. I hadn't considered that it might be because I'm too close to the enemies when I pressed the button. I've never had a problem pushing past enemies though; as long as your momentum is high enough the light attack will push them away and you'll carry on running. You only end up stopping to punch them if you weren't going fast enough in the first place.
It's also annoying that the waypoints don't trigger every time. I guess you have to run through (or close enough to) the waypoints, not just have the guards at them spot you. Which isn't in-keeping with the nature of the mission, so it's a little unfair.
At first I thought I had to beat them all down, got through 2 waypoints, didn´t make to the 3rd one. That would be hard
Entering combat mode while trying to Light Traversal Attack is a bit annoying. Found out that first time it works and 2nd time not so much on same group, but its unnecessary to fight them off anyways. Just LTA 1 guy or slide past in middle of the pack.
Every mission requires to cut corners to win 0.5-1s but I wouldn´t want them any easier neither. They are called "challenges" for a reason. If I get frustrated I take up another story mission or just run around and enjoy the view;)
That said, this mission took me at least 50 times as well.
I'd consider myself a very competent gamer, but I barely just made it running some dead drop delivery missions and have yet to complete the diversion mission you've described.
It's really hard, especially when you're not intimately familiar with the area/section. Still haven't managed to get to the 4th (or maybe the 5th one) point without the timer running out.
Not sure if this is intentional or whether it's a downside to how they've designed the open world, in that it's difficult to know how to get from point A to point B in a timely manner, especially when buildings often block your view of what's ahead and how to best navigate them.
At least I ended 1 dead drop delivery with one go.(so proud of meself)
One thing I discovered was at the first mission when I hit the Abort button near the end and backtracked the mission track, helped to discover some hidden corners. Other way to do it is just keep going till the track is doable with blind eyes
PS Anyone has finished a delivery\diversion without shortcut, I "know" it should be doable. But every time I do all the hard parts perfectly and run 3s in bonus I stumble on easiest wall runs... Tried it with "The Lie", after a hour or two went for the easier way and not for the one RV is suggesting.
