Am I the only one who is disappointed by the fact that the big map hype was non-existent? After the story completion, the free roam areas are as what was available during the story, with the exception of some major buildings that we entered during the story quests. I am sad that so much of the map is unused creating such a limited play space for free roaming. Only a small portion of the map is used for the entire game yet the empty and inaccessible parts of the city are still part of the map, which is deceiving.

Some kind of marketing this is. The anticipation was not delivered.

"The whole city will be explorable." They forgot to mention that nearly 50% of the city will be unexplorable.

  • No. I think they made it clear what areas would be playable. **** you could even tell in the beta which areas would be playable.

I think it's an acceptable amount of size if we consider Campaign. Although I'd expect an HD wouldn't handle that big *** city as explorable and this is insane for someone running, I really thought they let it implicit and purposely made alot of people thinking there would be a really huge area in terms of map. When you're running, you can tell the game is big. Just do a run from The View to the opposite edge of the map and you'll see.

Considering all of this, but now free running wise: I agree that we should have an addition of new areas as DLC. I love this new architecture, but I really miss the original city, that was so unique and so organic that I'm crying for them to make areas like those on further DLCs and realease it for us as unlocked areas of the map, with updated side missions where Faith go investigate things about the lore, perhaps and make us dive back in the old architecture. There is quite a large area on which the map navigator can go that is full of smaller buildings and cover pretty much what is missing on the game so far.

I've made a topic about this and other suggestions https://forums.mirrorsedge.com/discussion/2098/fan-feedback-old-school-areas-origin-f-list-multiplayer-full-map-size-no-campaign-spoilers#latest. If we want them to expand the city limits, we should really make some noise... I guess they are just waiting for our feedback because the map looks like those areas are ready to have something added on the future.

  • I can smell the scent of DLC already lol
  • Although I think we have plenty of roaming space, there is definitely room for DLC.
  • I haven't finished the game yet, but I do have a feeling about the map size. It's not small, but it's definitely not 'huge'. For now I'm not feeling it to be repetitive, and the way it's designed mean that often coming at a place from a different angle feels very different, but I can see myself eventually seeing the same patterns, so a DLC would be a brilliant solution. It would be great to see some more inside areas, especially larger inside sections, like a mall or something, or possible somewhere like a tube station. Whatever the case, I'm hopeful this will happen, and what they have for now will do fine for a while at least ...

A lot of the areas you travel through while being lead by the story are actually bigger than they first appear. There's several buildings/blocks in each area that look like they're inaccessible but actually turn out to be reachable. Spend some more time exploring, imo. It's too early for more space.
