  • Picked up an MSI GTX 1080X today. Render.ResolutionScale is now officially my best friend :p

  • Also - a handy tip for anyone getting too many FPS in simple areas, and noticing stuttering when they drop in larger ones:

    GameTime.MaxVariableFps
  • Everything on High except Motion Blur off. Anisotropic Filtering x8 and AO on Horizon Based. GPU Memory Restriction and VSync off. Game installed on an SSD.

    Specs:

    CPU: Intel i7-3820 @ 3.6 Ghz
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
    RAM: 12 GB
    SSD: Samsung SSD 850 Pro

Something is wrong. Here is the same picture but somewhat bigger: http://i.imgur.com/sjHhlGH.jpg

Yeah, you've only got a 4gb frame buffer.

Yeah I guess. Still it shouldn't look like this. I have 90 FPS or so and it looks like ****. Anyway, what can I do about this exactly? As far as I tested lowering the graphics didn't do anything. I'm not an epic hardware dude so I would appreciate if you explain a bit.

EDIT: I just put everything on medium, restarted like usual and it's exactly the same...

EDIT2: Everything medium and SSAO. No motion blur and restriction stuff. V-Sync off.

I do have like 100 to 120 FPS now =/...

Why not? It's an open world game. Would you rather it loads too much detail into the texture cache and destroys your FPS? This is a race game, not an RPG or a shooter. You need consistent FPS - any frame drop can ruin your experience.

They've made absolute the right decision about renderer priorities. You want bells and knobs, sell the two year old graphics card and buy an upgrade.
  • I'm also getting the game crash if I turn off AA options and leave reflections anywhere above lowest. GTX 680 with game ready drivers. Also seems that changing the deferred value higher does absolutely nothing, so it's only either post processing or render scaling to antialias. I do like visuals better without gaussian blur antialiasing, but lack of reflections are dissapointing.

Bro if you look on page 1... i posted the same exact thing. Textures not loading although theres plenty of vram left

Yeah, that's what I'm suspecting. They really should allow us the option to used deferred instead. Maybe the way the rendering pipeline works prevents that?

For those complaining their eyes always look unfocused try entering this in to the console (or User.cfg): PostProcess.ForceDofEnable false

  • What is Render.ResolutionScale? Is that a console command? What does it do?
  • It is a console command that sets the overall render resolution which is then scaled to your actual resolution. Eg. Running at 1280x720 with the scale set to 2.0 would render the game at 2560x1440 then scale it down to 1280x720 (helpful for reducing jagged edges in a better way than anti aliasing). You can this in the video options menu now though.

Yeah I know. The more people say it the more people get the message. The thing that is more disturbing is that the guy who I quoted thinks this is normal. I'm in the same boat as you and I already saw that you posted. I just thought having more examples is good. I just hope for a fix.
  • My game crashes and will never start if I turn off restricition. Have to delete settings file to start :joy:

    Only running a 280x o:)
  • I hope something came be done for you in a patch. I was supper disappointed with all the blurry textures and stuff, but I was just fortunate enough to get my problem sorted out eventually.

Ok sorry I thought you didn't have a look at page 1 ;) Thanks for sharing your picture!

Yeah ninemil thinks it has strictly to do with too little VRAM. That is not the case as I have proved! My VRAM isn't at full capacity by far. Maybe it has to do with the Nvidia Drivers. who knows...

But ninemil sry bro, I guess you are wrong, because as I said before, Battlefront ran smooth as silk on Ultra. And Battlefront looks far better (Hoth Ice-base.. WOW!) than Mirrors Edge with ist simple geometry. ;)
  • Sorry ninemil you were right! I could Launch the game today with gpu Memory restricion off and all textures showed, but the game didnt run smooth. So you were right about the VRAM of 2gb being far too little

Time for a graphics card upgrade.
