Latest 'UPDATE' 14th June has broken game completely. - Page 2 — Mirror's Edge™ Catalyst Forums
Is there any way to uninstall the update? I don't install it but now I have to play off line. I'd like to try it, but I'm worreid it will ruin the game.
Every time I die - but only during missions - and the loading screen shows, my screen turns black for a second. Just at the beginning and the end of the loading scene. Might be related to this issue as well.
This latest update has broken the game for me as well. Constant freezing right at the Menu screen and black screen flashes as if trying to change the resolution. I didn't even dare to play the game by clicking "Continue". This patch needs hotfixing as soon as possible.
i get it flicking black screens during loading screens. Running the game on a 980M with the latest driver. will upload a video.
I didn't get these black screens before the patch so it's definitely the patch causing this.
i had the same problem, you can fix it by setting borderless windowmode in the game
yeah this has happened to me a lot I thought I fixed it. But yeah I also mentioned in my other post you have to play on Borderless Window, doesn't look as good as fullscreen though hope they fix this soon.
Is there really no way to make Cutscenes be rendered by CPU and GPU? If you use drawfps 1 the CPU curve is twice as high in cutscnes than in normal game and GPU goes to zero...
After the update, my game will load and then go straight to a black screen without even getting to the main menu... I just wanted to do some side missions till the cutscenes were actually fixed
I have same issues with blackscreens in loading screens and options. Made a topic on ea answers. You can support it there by clickin "me too" in order to highligh it - maybe we will get some answer/hotfix faster (none yet). Windowmode is unaaceptable IMO.
please fix it !! Black Screen crashes , in Options - Sounds - All Sounds crash the Screen when i put the all sounds down !!!. Many Graphicsbugs in the Game ( Elevator - Mirrorscreen of Faith hair example ).

Me too!!! I also can't change the settings because the screen goes permanently black when I try to change any settings. I hope DICE releases a new patch soon.
Yeah, just remember to thank the devs for releasing a broken patch that totally trashes the game making it totally unplayable. Go from it playing perfectly fine to then this mess where I cant play due to all the performance issues
Also should mention that the screen turns black when I do as much as trying to move a slider in the options menu. Not just when I save my settings. Big problem.
Would be nice if devs at least acknowledged that this patch has ruined the game for many of us. Pre-patch game was working with minor issues now it is unplayable. Using GTX 960 with latest drivers.

Yep, same for me. I get the black flashing during the loading, then the game freezes and stutters at the menu screen as it seems to try and load.
Once I finally have the ability to Press "A" to continue my game it loads in and then continues freezing, then unfreezing, freezing, then unfreezing.
Even in the Start Menu screen. Tried turning down settings but that did not help at all.
I've got the NVidia 368.39 driver (which the GeForce experience tells me is the latest version), so no issue there.
The game in its current patched state is completely unplayable.
The nvapi64.dll is the api for nvidia so you can get your card and driver info (thus how it knows the driver version you're running).
In the file initfs_Win32 you can see:
// PAMPLONA - jschmid - [DIVERGENCE] - Going closer to beta/ship require up to date drivers
- mscheurwater - Added Intel min driver version and updated AMD and Nvidia
RenderDevice.MinDriverRequired true
RenderDevice.NvidiaMinDriverVersion 36839
So yeah, someone thought it was a good idea to make forced driver check.
Only if we could edit that file, set that true to false and make the game run...
Wow this topics gotten on well while i've been out.
Good news is I got 2 days to await letting decision. Going to do a ton of testing today and try to get a fix if possible.
Elgato keeps having a ton of fits as each black screen flash actually counts as a full HDMI signal reset off GPU. So going to combine with Action! and see how drivers are reacting.
Hilariously, all my voice audio is missing from my recordings for some odd reason. Got full music and ambience, no voice
Also going to test this nvapi64.dll as it seems to be a older version than what was installed in later drivers, no idea if game forces loads this which may be causing conflicts. Same is often caused by games like Borderlands forcing older PhysX drivers.
Off I go!
*Findings So Far*
There is NO nvapi64.dll anywhere in Mirrors Edge Catalyst. Therefor they are not overwriting drivers. Renaming externally from folder will pretty much screw up every other game/application that needs access, not to mention loss of features, compatibility and optimizations.
Putting it into Window mode does indeed fix this. Quickest way to test if issue is present is simply click on "FOV slider". Normally this is instant and can visually see changes, otherwise enjoy a good 30+ secs of flashing screen.
Would seem Reflection Hyper only really serves to add more defined blurring to transparent glass. Faiths still not reflected in 99% of all reflections. FPS payoff simply does not seem worth it.
On flip side setting Lighting to Hyper has a very visual payoff. Seems deleting my Profile and reconfiguring also stopped the 24-30 fps drop when lighting is set to Hyper. Extremely odd. Correction: Sunrise killed fps by 30+ again.
After 34 minutes play the controls slowed down again missing crucial inputs.
Finally as many have reported, deleting your profile from "C:\Users\*\Documents\Mirrors Edge Catalyst\settings" does indeed fix black screen issue. It has also stopped my G-Sync conflicts with refresh/v-sync AND has given a dramatic performance boost to certain situations.
If I had to guess I would say the patch optimised a few backend scripts/calls and renamed a few, the old (Retail Original) conflict was caused by still referencing (now) invalid calls resulting in conflicts with drivers/scripts forcing a driver reset.
Now to play game and see if AI, Sound, and context moments + controls actually work with new Config.
Suddenly i have crashes during start up ever since a Windows 10 update yesterday. I can turn the graphics to max, except Lightning and Textures, any higher and the game crashes on start up. These two options only work up to medium, and even then i have crashes after a couple of minutes. I played 30+ hours before with maxed options (except textures which were set to Ultra) and no crash whatsoever. And whenever it crashes, i get this **** message:
I have a 4Gb GTX 970, 8GB RAM, but the message says there is not enough Memory.

Deleting the save file and creating a new does indeed resolve the black screen on loading and the game started out nice, however after a few minutes of play the constant freezing has returned which renders the game once again unplayable. Can't even navigate the menu screens as the freezing is even worse in that case and I am unable to fiddle around with the settings. I am really hoping this can get fixed soon.
EA gathers information on which GPU nad CPU we have issues with those irritating blackscreens in options and loading screens. Pelase post on this topic what hardware you use (if you have this issue ofc).
before that patch released, i could the game without have a freeze. now it's totally unplayable, i get same problem as many of u with black screen flashing on loading, game is taking more time to loading and whenever i try to make run faith game is freezing every second, before i dididnt get any of that trouble, their improvemments have bring more trouble

before:
GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred 0
GstRender.AntiAliasingPost 2
after:
GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred 3
GstRender.AntiAliasingPost 2
the second one was the value who was in before the patch..
Try it, if you want, i have got to play a little without or less freeze than before (before it was unplayable)
edit: forgot this, didn't work
in the "PROF_SAVE_profile" file:
change this:
GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred 0
to this:
GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred 3 (this is the value before the patch)
after doing that, i was able to play without freeze or less, but surely it ran better (for me)

works (nvapi64.dll is in windows/system32 folder)
but will i have other issues with other games?
what nvapi64.dll is used for exactly?
